It's been a whole week since I posted a new picture... Longest since I started actually drawing again on a regular basis... Why the pause? Work mostly... though I've turned in my 2 week notice.

But it's not only work... I took over a couple shifts for one of the other managers because he had a crisis that really needed his full attention for a few days. As a sign of thanks, he gave me a japanese ink painting set. I've never done any ink painting in my life, and I've never been a good painter... But being the "wapanese" person I am, I was still drawn to it. I'll probably try to do a few simple things with it over the coming week, it's just setting up the time and place to get started and practicing.

The hard part is finding a good table I can use at my house... everything here is covered in mountains upon mountains of junk... Hmm I'll find a way though. As greatful as I am for the gift, knowing me I'll probably only try a few paintings then get disheartened and quit... but still it's something I want to try. Not only because I like using gifts people give me, but because I always wanted to grind my own ink... It looks kind of meditative. So hopefully my next post will be a completed (and not too horrid looking) ink drawing. After that I'll return to my usual drawings... if I take too long to get back into them, I'll fall into another several month funk like I did last time. Maybe not so bad as long as I keep doing creative things... I think it's the moment I stop doing creative things that everything falls apart.
